Yama Seiki’s Goodway GLS-1500 series high-speed CNC turning center features a 30-degree slant-bed casting design. An optional single-moving, live-tool turret makes the turning center well-suited for demanding turning operations, the company says.
The slant-bed is designed for smooth chip disposal and to ease operator access. Fully enclosed splash guards keep chips and coolant contained, and an auto lubrication system delivers metered amounts of lubrication to the slideways, ballscrews and other components. While idling, distribution is automatically shut off to prevent waste.
The turning centers are designed to withstand high-production turning applications with a heavily ribbed, one-piece, thermally balanced bed of Meehanite casting parts. The slant-bed design also supports the headstock, turret and tailstock for rigidity and efficient chip removal, the company says.
The 10- or 12-station turret can be indexed in 0.2 sec. via the high-speed, servo-motor indexing system. The 10-station turret can accommodate 8”-diameter workholding devices without interference, and the 12-station turret can be used for milling, drilling and turning operations.
