The Control Emulator (CE) software enables users to simulate and test NC programs using machine code data (MCD) within the Catia V5/Delmia environment. Manufacturer Icam Technologies says the software provides a more meaningful simulation than APT-based verification systems. While APT-based systems simulate the programmer’s planned toolpath, this software demonstrates how a machine tool will react to the MCD output generated by the postprocessor. In addition, deploying the software in an integrated package with Catia V5/Delmia enables users to run simulations on a per-operation basis to reduce programming time.
In addition to validating the accuracy of the MCD, the software verifies the actual tool path as described by the MCD. It also tests the MCD for collisions and allows users to compare the design part against an MCD-based material-removal part simulation. Other features supported by the software include linear, circular and helical interpolation; drilling cycles; tool change and tool pre-select; length, diameter and fixture compensation; and more.
