Omax offers Intelli-Max 20, an updated version of its software suite for optimizing tool paths of its JetMachining Center abrasive waterjet systems. According to the company, the software requires minimal operator training and makes it easy for users to create precision workpieces faster and at lower cost. The software is said to simplify the control of the jet stream while cutting, as well as automate the programming and tool setup. A new automatic toolpath planning engine improves the artificial intelligence of the waterjets, limiting the need for operator involvement, improving collision avoidance functionality and enabling more efficient traversing between workpieces, Omax says.
Layout, the specialized CAD portion of the software suite, features a new scripting engine that enables users to create standalone applications for automating their machines. For example, users can add barcodes to documents so that information is automatically built into the cutting parameters of the control software when the barcode is scanned. The scripting engine also commands the CAD applications which users can leverage through the company’s fee-based custom programming services.
The release also includes a new circular window, bridging and capping commands, improved 3D machining features, enhanced machine monitoring and alerts, and new parametric shapes for easier 3D pipe cutting.
