Omax’s MicroMax JetMachining Center is designed for cutting workpieces or features smaller than 300 microns from a range of materials, including exotic metals, composites, polymer thermoplastics and glass. Well-suited for prototype development and production runs, the waterjet offers a table measuring 28" × 28" with X-Y cutting travels of 24" × 24". The machine’s high-precision linear encoders, vibration isolation and software control system enable position repeatability of 2.5 microns (0.0001") and a positioning accuracy of approximately 15 microns (0.0006"), the company says. The 7/15 Mini Maxjet5i nozzle features a 0.007" orifice and 0.015" mixing tube combination designed to cut complex patterns quickly and accurately. According to the company, the nozzle’s jet stream carries an extremely fine abrasive, enabling a kerf as small as 0.015". Advanced pressure controls enable piercing delicate materials.
