Mitsubishi EDM’s MV1200R wire EDM from MC Machinery features improvements over the company’s previous EDM models. The MV1200R incorporates noncontact cylindrical drive technology, an improved power supply, automatic threading and deeper submerged wire-threading capabilities. New cylindrical drive technology uses a linear shaft motor with a round magnetic shaft, creating a non-contact design using the full 360 degrees of magnetic flux. The design is said to deliver no wear, no cogging and no backlash for improved accuracy, speed and efficiency.
Travels measure 15.7" × 11.8" × 8.7" in the X, Y and Z axes. The machine accommodates workpieces ranging to 31.9" × 17.6" × 8.5" and maximum submerged workpiece weight is 1,102 lbs. Submerged machining is possible to 8.7" deep. The EDM accommodates wires ranging from 0.004" to 0.012", approximately. A digital matrix sensor shapes each spark, reducing electrode wear.
