The AccuteX AX-1165 EDM from Absolute is a heavy-duty wire machine that accommodates workpieces weighing as much as 9,000 lbs. The machine is equipped with an annealing, fully automatic wire threading system (AWT) with a tip disposal unit. The intelligent servo-control and multi-detectors enable quick, reliable, automatic wire threading, the company says.
The Windows CE-based CNC system’s 64-bit CPU is a high speed, stable, industrial-grade computer that features a powerful NC calculation function for high-accuracy machining, the company says. Comprehensive online help information and user-friendly operational interface present powerful calculation features. Standard features include machine travels measuring 43.3" × 25.6" × 23.6" in the X, Y and Z axes, respectively, as well as 5.9" in the U-V axis. Rapid traverse rates range to 51.1 ipm, with simultaneous wire feed rates ranging from 0 to 590 ipm using 0.008" to 0.013"-diameter electrode wire.
According to the company, virtually all wire-handling operations have been simplified. The U-V axis mechanism has been placed in the cabinet above the working area for higher system reliability. The Z axis is rigid enough to bear high flushing pressures without deviation, which creates a straight cut in tall workpieces, the company says.
Benefits are said to include minimal setup, unmanned machining, user-friendly touch controls and access to a variety of fixtures to accommodate any setup.
