Sodick’s AQ750LH and AQ1200LH model AQ series wire EDM machines feature an expanded Z height and linear motor drive technology. UV-axis travels enable full Z-axis capacity machining of extreme taper angles ranging to 45 degrees. The UV travels are larger than the XY movements so that tapering can be performed beyond the normal X-Y travels of the machine. They are well-suited for automotive molds and dies, aerospace, and energy applications, including parts such as turbine hubs, aerofoil vanes, instrument panels and bumpers.
The fixed-table AQ750LH model features a 24" cutting capacity. Standard features include an L-cut wire chopper, high speed generator, low-maintenance tank seal, multi-filtration system, wire jumbo feeder, super jet AWT and vertical sliding tank door. X- and Y-axis travel measures 29.53" × 16.68". The AQ1200LH model also features a 24" Z axis and X- and Y-axis travel measuring 47.24" × 31.50".
Both models incorporate a control with collision protection to avoid operator error. This technology constantly monitors voltage in the axis drives, and stops the machine when voltage exceeds a predetermined load. The control also features automatic machining-condition selection based on a database that contains details on the best conditions for various wire diameters, workpiece materials and workpiece thicknesses.
