Machine tool supplier MAG-IAS produced this video to illustrate an efficient approach to titanium blisk production. This process makes use of trochoidal milling, using a continually curving tool path to preserve tool life by keeping the stress on the tool consistent. MAG's cryogenic machining further extends tool life by delivering liquid nitrogen through the tool. (You can see the nitrogen leave the tool as a gas at various points in this video.) The five-axis machining center seen here is the company's NBV 700 5X model.
