ShapeGrabber, a division of Quality Vision International, presents its line of 3D laser scanning systems featuring the Ai310 scanner. The scanner automatically captures a point cloud of millions of data points that represent an entire surface area of a part. This enables users to quickly troubleshoot fitting problems, evaluate part wear and measure whole parts rather than a few features, reducing inspection time and equipment downtime.
According to the company, 3D scanners can enhance 100-percent inspection, statistical process control (SPC) and production part approval processes (PPAP). No skills are said to be required to conduct the scan, and scanned data can be directly compared to a part’s CAD model. The data can also be used to generate visual reports that show deficiencies at a glance.
