SMTCL, a subsidiary of SYMG, is donating machines to several local high schools in Santa Clarita, California, as part of William S. Hart school district’s Advanced Technologies Career Pathways program. This program will feature a set of courses to introduce and certify students in CAD/CAM programming, 3D printing and CNC machining.
The first school that will be starting this program in the fall of 2015 is Saugus High School. On April 14, 2015, SMTCL, Precision CNC and West Coast Customs came together to get students excited for what these courses will be offering them. At the event, students were able to see a West Coast Customs car as well as parts made on CNC machines and 3D printed parts. In the evening, students and parents heard from industry speakers and the school district to learn more about the Advanced Technologies program. SMTCL COO Jerry McCarty spoke along with others from businesses and institutions. According to SMTCL, the event was a success, with many excited students signing up for the opportunity.
