The Super Ion air knife is said to eliminate static electricity from paper, plastics and other product surfaces where poor print quality, dust attraction, tearing or jamming are a problem. The new 9" (23 cm) stock length is suited to the standard widths of many common materials. Static electricity charges that occur as a result of low humidity during the winter months, high speeds or insulators rubbing against one another can be eliminated. Crisp print quality, product cleanliness and throughput can improve as well, according to the company.
The air knife uses a small amount of compressed air to establish a uniform sheet of airflow that is filled with positive and negative ions from an electrically powered ionizing bar. The laminar airflow minimizes recombination of the ions and moves them over long distances for large area coverage. Force can be adjusted from a “blast” to a “breeze.” Air consumption has been minimized to only 3 scfm of compressed air at 5 psig for normal operation. The shockless design is UL component recognized to U.S. and Canadian safety standards, and there are no moving parts to wear out. Lengths up to 48" are available from stock.
Applications include surface cleaning, neutralizing plastics, bag opening, pre-paint dust removal, printing machinery, packaging operations and elimination of painful static electricity shocks. The price is $335.
