Euro-Tech’s MyTec Hydraclamp expansion tools include a line of mechanical arbors and chucks with clamping accuracies ranging to 0.0004" and expansion rates to 0.010" or higher. Mechanical arbors and chucks are ideal for workholding against high forces or auto-load applications requiring high clearance. Suitable applications include turning, hobbing, grinding, testing and measuring. Using hydraulic expansion elements, this clamping system achieves greater precision, clamping force and transferred torque than traditional clamping systems, according to the company.
The clamps’ closed expansion system, impervious to dirt and chips, combined with high wear resistance, promotes long service life. The line’s expansion elements are generally equipped with an adjustment piston, enabling the user to set expansion for fine clamping, particularly in the case of thin-walled workpieces, in order to avoid deformation.
These stainless steel clamps have a hardness of 56 HRc with a center hardness of 64 HRc. An optional wear-resistant coating may be applied to bump the surface hardness to 80 HRc.
