The ZPS Swiss CNC Swiss machine can turn bar measuring from 3 to 32 mm in diameter. The rigid machine is designed for continuous or series production of precision turned parts. The Swiss-type turning center is equipped with a GE Fanuc 160i control system and drives that are capable of handling as many as 12 controlled axes.
 
To simplify programming, Swiss Plus software enables the programmer to consider only the X and Z axes, similar to programming a common, two-axis CNC lathe, the company says. Swiss Plus operates with Windows and is said to offer user-friendly programming adapted for simultaneous operations. Each machining operation is individually programmed in ISO code with graphic interface and tool library. The software generates the part program by taking into consideration machine kinematics.
 
As many as four tools can cut simultaneously. The sliding headstock provides a maximum 250-mm stroke that enables part machining in succession at one collet clamping as well as the machining of long parts with small diameter.
 
To machine complex parts in a single operation, the machine features 23 tool stations, 14 of which can be driven. Two identical spindles increase machining capacity in the rear slide operations and enable evacuation of long parts (more than 250 mm) through the subspindle.
