Available from United Grinding, the Studer S33 has been redesigned for improved automation. The cylindrical grinder's Sensitron 6 electronic contact detection has a variable frequency range that distinguishes between unwanted noise and grinding or dressing. This can save time when using either conventional or super-abrasive wheels, the company says.
In addition, the machine includes automatic doors to speed manual loading and unloading in a production environment. For in-process gaging, it uses digital measuring heads to reduce space and improve reliability and accuracy. According to the company, an average change-over time of 2 minutes makes the grinder useful for small-run jobs.
