Distributed by ERI America, the Showa Super Drill system enables precision drilling of holes up to 15 × D. Drill diameters range from 1.97" to 10.63" (50 to 270 mm) to a maximum depth of 70.86" (1,800 mm).
It uses a combination of a center drill that creates its own pilot hole, a roughing blade and a finishing blade. The finishing blade creates small chips for easy removal, the company says. The modular design can use as many as 10 head sizes, four shank styles and a variety of extension arbors, center drills, roughing and finishing blades. The tool maximizes flexibility and productivity without increasing toolroom inventory, the company says. Blades and drills are manufactured from sintered HSS for improved performance and edge holding. The modular design and regrinding fixture is said to simplify sharpening.
