Walter USA has added the Titex X-treme D40 and D50 to its line of solid carbide deep-hole drills. The tools offer drilling depths of 40×D and 50×D, respectively. According to the company, they are capable of drilling holes in one operation without pecking in steel, cast iron and nonferrous materials. The drills are suitable for general metalworking, hydraulics and automotive applications. Additional diameters, including intermediate sizes, are available as special versions.
The drills feature a TiAlN tip coating for extended tool life. Internal coolant channels optimize heat dissipation and promote reliable chip evacuation in conjunction with the polished flutes. The drill is able to plunge without “coming up for air” with a coolant pressure of 580 psi (40 bar), making a high-pressure coolant system unnecessary, the company says. Four margins help keep the drill on its intended course, contributing to high process reliability even with angled hole exits or cross holes.
