Zagar’s Precihole BTA deep hole drilling machines are designed for BTA or single tube system (STS) drilling. The machines are capable of holemaking in the ID range of 1.00" to 12.00" solid drilling, and 16.00" counter-boring with lengths ranging to 40 ft.
The BTA process drills holes into the center of cylindrical parts by rotating the cutting tool and feeding it into a counter-rotating part. The cutting tool is designed with carbide inserts and guide pads mounted to a toolholder drill tube, with coolant introduced at high pressure around the drill tube. Chips can be evacuated through the center of the drill for cutting efficiency. The coolant is then cleaned, cooled and recycled.
The line includes four models with spindle powers of 22, 37, 71 and 115 kW. All machines are available with either FANUC or Siemens CNCs. The machines are designed for major parts production in industries including defense, oil and gas, hydraulics, automotive, general and heavy engineering, power generation, nuclear energy, steel manufacturing, and off-road vehicles.
