showcases the FMB Turbo RS 2-20, which features a sliding guide module design innovation that is said to provide enhanced performance for small-diameter bar stock applications. The system fully supports the bar pusher and stock from within the bar feeder to the lathe spindle, which the company claims is a first in the industry.
The RS (Revolutionary Sliding) technology eliminates the need for accessories like telescopic noses, extended pushers and Z-axis axial tracks, which were traditionally used to minimize the gap between the bar feeder and lathe. By doing so, it is said to reduce vibration and enable significantly higher rpms, resulting in smoother bar feeding and improved machining performance.
The FMB Turbo RS 2-20 also offers practical advantages for shop layouts, the company says. Its design enables it to be installed closer to the back of the machine tool, reducing the overall floor space required. This combination of space efficiency, flexibility and performance optimization makes the Turbo RS 2-20 an well suited for applications such as non-guide bushing modes, long Z-axis strokes, challenging materials and profiled stock.
“This bar feeder addresses real challenges faced by Swiss lathe operators running applications with small-diameter bar stock,” says Kevin Meehan, president of Edge Technologies. “Operators can expect to see faster cycle times, better surface finishes and tighter tolerances.”
