The SST Consumables Group offers EDM wire optimized for use on Makino EDMs equipped with HyperCut technology, including the U3 and U6. Developed as a result of collaboration between Makino and Bedra, the wire and HyperCut technology together are said to provide part accuracy and quality surface finish as well as reductions in cycle time. The wire is available in 0.008", 0.010" and 0.012" diameters on P5, P10, B8 and B16 spools from SST.
The HyperCut wire offers auto-threading capability, cleanliness and high cutting speed with machining speeds as much as 20 percent faster compared to standard brass wire, according to the company. The wire’s core material is brass (CuZn40) with an outer coating of gamma-phase brass and a tensile strength of 900 MPa.
