Entering the micro cutting market, Schunk Inc. now offers SVL extensions and Mini toolholders with clamping diameters as small as 0.3 mm (0.012"), allowing the direct holding of circuit board tools with straight shanks. The company says this eliminates the need for many special cutting tools with larger shanks.

Using the elastic forces of material,Ìýthe manual SVP-2 or the automatic SVP-3 clamping devices with corresponding reduction inserts can complete the clamping process within 30 seconds, the company says. The runout accuracy and repeatability is less than 3 microns, and the rotational symmetric design guarantees a basicÌýcounterbalance of less than 4 g/mm. With no movable components, the toolholders are said to be long-lived and maintenance free. Ìý
