The PoliStar from TPS International, Inc. is appropriate for use on CNC lathes with driven turret receptions. Useful for creating ID keyway and slotting features, the lathe attachment incorporates a mechanical reciprocating motion that is powered by a drive specific to the turret drive of the lathe.

The base attachment accepts an interchangeable cartridge that retains the carbide insert, whichÌýis available in inch or metric keyway and slot sizes. According to the company, the reciprocating motion is similar in concept to a broaching operation, allowing the user to turn the part with requiring secondary operations. The attachments have been developed for either axial or radial machining orientation, with reciprocating strokes ranging from 18 mm to 36 mm.
