Precision Dormer offers a line of end mills for cutting soft, nonferrous materials as well as hardened and high-alloy materials. The high-performance end mills are made from micro-grain carbide for wear resistance and longer tool life. The two- and three-flute cutters are surface treated with TiCN, while the four-flute and multi-flute cutters feature AlTiN treatment. Most of the cutters are offered standard with corner radii to prevent chipping during difficult milling operations.
The two- and three-flute center-cutting end mills, listed as styles S400HA through S404HA, are designed for aluminum and nonferrous materials. The surface finish in the flutes and on the cutting edges reduces friction against the workpiece material, and is said to improve chip evacuation when combined with higher rake angles and deeper flute designs.
The S405HA six- and eight-flute center-cutting end mills are suitable for finishing operations in carbon, alloy and tool steels with hardness ranging to 65 HRc. The 45-degree helix and flute construction enables high-speed milling while also providing quality surface finishes in hard materials.
The company’s unequal helix cutters, listed as styles S406HA, S406HB and S407HA, are intended to increase stability and eliminate vibrations that can occur in high-production milling applications with increased metal removal rates and greater depth of cut.
