Sandvik Coromant offers a version of its QS holding system for sliding-headstock machines that can be combined with high-precision coolant. Small part machining of demanding, long-chipping materials has traditionally contributed to chip-breaking issues, the company says. With as little as 145 psi (10 bar) of coolant pressure, the system uses sighted nozzles to provide accurate coolant delivery, which improves chip breaking and performance. The new system can easily be installed in existing machines to improve component quality and provide problem-free small part machining, the company says.
