Available from Methods Machine Tools, the Yasda H40i high-precision five-axis machining center is designed for improved repeatability and accuracy, tighter tolerances, and shorter cycle times for aerospace, die/mold and automotive manufacturing.
The machining center’s adjustable work envelope accommodates low-volume manufacturing of a variety of part sizes, geometries and materials, with X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measuring 34" × 29" × 27". Direct-drive motors in the rotary axes enable simultaneous high-speed five-axis machining with A- and B-axis rotational speeds ranging to 100 and 75 rpm, respectively. A high-performance spindle provides optimal power and torque for machining a wide range of metal alloys while minimizing thermal distortion for optimal tool performance and surface finishes.
The machine’s rigid structure includes roller-type guideways with a retainer on the X, Y and Z axes for high-speed operations and high acceleration. A Z-axis ballscrew positioned at the center of the guideways enables fast feed without geometric error. The ribbed cast iron bed effectively damps vibration, and three-point mounting helps to maintain static accuracy. It is equipped with a FANUC 31i-A5 control, as well as complete work scheduling and tool management via the automatic part changer and toolchanger. Multiple configurations are available, including a 24-pallet version that includes a workpiece preloading station, A- and B-axis direct-drive motors, and a tool capacity of 240.
