Gradient Lens Corporation has expanded its line of Hawkeye Pro Flexible Borescopes to include diameters of 3.3 and 4 mm in addition to 5 mm. According to the company, the borescopes can help manufacturers of castings, welded tubes and other complex parts improve quality control in visual inspection processes. They provide detailed images of cracks, burrs, voids, flash, surface finish irregularities and other defects that can affect the quality of fuel and hydraulic systems, engine blocks, medical equipment and other products.
The borescopes’ high-resolution, acid-leached, optical-glass imaging bundles are said to provide both quality images and the flexibility to reach into narrow, twisting spaces. The bundles are designed to reduce crosstalk between the 18,000 fibers and increase image contrast. Two-way articulation allows users to control the direction of the viewing tip, while tungsten and/or stainless steel braided sheaths are said to add durability without sacrificing flexibility.
