Designed for accuracy, convenience and flexibility, the GSU Series universal grinders feature a wheelhead assembly that incorporates two opposing OD grinding wheels, one ID grinding wheel and a 0.0001-degree minimum increment rotation setting. OD, ID, end face and inner and outer taper grinding can be executed in a single chucking, the company says. Additionally, the machine can use OD grinding wheels of varied diameters for application flexibility. The machines are available with swing capacities of 11.8" and 16.1". Center distances to 39.4" are available, depending on the model. Maximum workload is 330 lbs., and standard grinding wheel size is 20" × 2" × 5" (wheel diameter × width × bore diameter). The Shigiya-Fanuc CNC features the company’s “interactive programming system,” a conversational, automatic programming system that is said to provide quick, easy programming, setup and operation, even for inexperienced users. Other features include sliding front splashguards, a full machine cover, a coolant tank and pump and more. Available options include coolant dust separators, a rotary dresser, in-process gaging, touch probes, motor inverters and expanded memory.
