Zontec offers the Synergy 200, a mobile statistical process control (SPC) system that allows users to roam freely about a facility while performing real-time SPC on a wireless, portable PC. Featuring a handheld PC that is about the size of a paperback book, the system provides a set of quality-assurance tools for data collection, charting, process monitoring, data analysis and reporting. The software generates feedback about manufacturing processes so users can take any needed corrective action and make production decisions.
Featuring a 7" WVGA touchscreen and weighing 1.7 lbs, the PC is not as bulky as a notebook computer and has more functionality than a personal data assistant (PDA), the company says. Gages and measurement devices can be connected to the unit via USB ports for automated data collection. It is equipped with a 900-MHz Intel Celeron processor, a 40-GB hard drive and 512 MB of memory, as well as 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet, 802.11b/g wireless connectivity and Bluetooth v2.0. A twin-array microphone allows users to make phone calls over the Internet using VOIP. In addition, when not performing SPC, users have full access to the Internet, e-mail and other Windows applications.
