Leaders-In background

Methods Machine Tools offers a pre-engineered integrated automation cell for manufacturing and deburring a high volume of like parts. The cell features two Feeler VMP-580 vertical milling machining centers that are serviced by a single FANUC M20iA robot, which is set up to process one side of a part in the first machine and the second side in the other machine. The part is flipped between operations while both machines are running. After machining, the robot processes the parts through a series of ATI-brand-compliant pneumatic deburring heads before placing them on the out-feed conveyor. The flexible configuration enables both machines to run the same machining operation or two different operations. The cell also can be expanded to a total of three machines serviced by the robot.

The Feeler VMP-580 offers a 10,000-rpm spindle and a 24-tool ATC. An APC pallet-changer version is also available. It features linear guideways on the X and Y axes and boxways on the Z axis. Travels range from 580 to 1,100 mm (23" to 43") on the X axis, 420 to 610 mm (16.5" to 24") on the Y axis and 510 to 600 mm (20" to 23.6") on the Z axis.
