ABB Robotics’ IRB 6700 robot family is available in payloads ranging from 150 to 300 kg and reaches from 2.6 to 3.2 m. Designed for spot welding, material handling and machine tending, the robots offer reduced power consumption in addition to enhanced speed, payload and accuracy.
According to the company, every robot in the 6700 family is designed to accommodate Lean ID, an integrated dressing designed for easier programming and a smaller footprint. The most exposed parts of the dress pack are integrated into the robot to balance cost and durability, the company says. Equipping a robot with Lean ID is said to make it easier to perform and simulate with predictable cable movements, and to lessen wear and tear. The robots are also suitable for harsh working environments and are available with ABB’s Foundry Plus 2 protection system.
The 6700 robots also include the next generation of motors and compact gearboxes for rigidity, accuracy and reliability, the company says. Service routines have been shortened and intervals between them have been increased. The robots also offer improved access to motors. ABB Robotics has also updated technical documentation for maintenance with improved graphics and 3D simulations called “simstructions.”
