The Mazak HCN-6800 heavy-duty HMC is designed to deliver the power and versatility needed for productive and precise large-part machining. With the new Mazatrol SmoothG CNC, the machine tool provides advanced programming features and functions for ease of use, speed and further enhanced machine performance.
The HMC’s X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measure 41.34" ×35.43" × 38.58" and rapid traverse rates are 2,362 ipm at 0.8 G acceleration across all axes. It comes with a 50-hp, 10,000-rpm, CAT 50 spindle that delivers high metal removal capabilities in a variety of materials, ranging from steels to nonferrous metals. Optional high-speed, high-torque and hard-metal spindles are also available to effectively tackle a range of application requirements.
The NC rotary table on the HCN-6800 rotates 90 degrees in 1.9 sec. and features 0.001-degree minimum increments for precise four-axis indexing and machining. The table incorporates high-precision, 360-degree position coupling and accommodates workpiece sizes ranging to 41.34" in diameter and 51.18" in height. The machining center is equipped with a two-pallet changer that enables loading or unloading one pallet while the other is inside the machine. Pallets measure 24.8" × 24.8" with a maximum load capacity of 3,307 lbs. The pallet changer also makes integration with Mazak’s modular Pallech system possible. The HMC’s automatic toolchanger stores 43 tools with maximum tool diameters of 10.24".
The new Mazatrol SmoothG CNC eases program generation for processing large complex parts through off-centerline machining as well as angled drilling, milling and tapping. The CNC is key to the company’s new Smooth Technology platform that encompasses aspects of part production from programming to metal removal to data collection. An orbit machining function enables the machine to turn features on large, complexly-shaped parts such as valves and manifolds while they remain in a stationary position.
