Prima Power Laserdyne introduces the OFC2 Absolute laser measurement system that offers an absolute measurement resolution of 2.5 microns. The OFC2 Absolute is based on laser distance measurement technology and is complementary to OFC Optical Focus Control for relative measurement of metal and non-metal surfaces. The device can measure shiny and dull materials, coated and un-coated surfaces, and visually light and dark surfaces. It can also measure a range of angled surfaces depending on material surface finish.
Compared to the original OFC, the OFC2 offers a longer working range of more than 4" (100 mm). This working range enables the location of reference features (edges, corners, holes and so on) to be determined using a greater stand-off between the laser processing head and the workpiece, reducing the possibility of a collision between them.
Measurement is made using a low-power laser coaxial to the beam path of the processing laser. The company says coaxial measurement maintains the compact nature of the Laserdyne BD3Y BeamDirector, versus off-axis laser-based measurement devices that increase the overall size of the head.
