Engineered to meet production needs in the oil industry, the Oil Country Lathe combines a large bed length and extensive chuck options with high stability and accuracy, according to manufacturer Okuma. The machine is available in both two- and four-axis configurations. A standard 7.87" spindle bore and spindle sizes of 14.75" and 22.05" are available for various turning and threading applications.
The company says the machine’svariable-speed threading process reduces vibration and prevents pitch errors with a slow, smooth spindle transition. The company’s Oil Field “Threading Suite” combines variable-speed threading and harmonic spindle control that is said to deliver an exact match between in-feed patterns and cutting increments. Automatically adjusting to operator changes, the steady threading is designed to produce a final product that precisely matches its mate.
