The Rota-S Flex from Schunk is a flexible manual chuck for machining a variety of workpieces on milling and turning machines. It has all the same features as the company’s Rota-S Plus, and extended guideways transform it into a large, lightweight chuck.
The chuck weighs approximately 60 percent less than a conventional chuck with the same capacity while maintaining an identical table load, enabling the machining of heavy workpieces, according to the company. Its low profile enables space for the workpiece and tools. The extended guideways can be disassembled for smaller workpieces, improving workpiece accessibility. A special lubrication system ensures high clamping forces, and its seals are designed to prevent chips and dust from entering.
The chuck can be assembled on a machine table, and the optimized quick-change jaw system speeds retrofitting. The company says it clamps small parts as reliably as large ones, ensuring operator safety. It is available in a variety of sizes and can be combined with many of the company’s standard chuck jaws.
