The company's NX software is an integrated CAD/CAM/CAE package that allows manufacturing programming and planning to connect the virtual CAM world to the physical shop-floor world. Its NX CAM is a CNC programming solution for the aerospace, machinery and mold and die industries. The latest release, NX 6, adds further automation by using Product Manufacturing Information to drive CNC programming as well as using the company's new synchronous technology, which is said to provide easy model editing for CNC programmers. Tecnomatix, one of the company's other products, is a digital manufacturing software package that allows the virtual design, analysis and simulation of factories and their manufacturing processes. The software is intended to reduce capital costs, improve product quality and increase factory efficiency and throughput. It does this by enabling users to create and analyze a virtual factory before the physical installation of equipment, the company says. The software's capabilities include Plant Design and Optimization to ensure factories are operating at peak efficiency before production ramp-up; Part and Assembly Planning and Validation for streamlining process authoring, bill of material management and line balancing; and Quality Management CMM for creating inspection programs from 3D CAD models and analyzing measurement data.
