With seven CNC-controlled axes, the company’s FZ 12K S multi-function machine is built for high-precision, automated, six-sided complete machining from bar. Designed for medical manufacturers, the machine is suited for applications such as orthopedic devices, bone plates, hip sockets and surgical instruments made of special plastics, titanium and steel. The machine has a total of seven programmable CNC axes and is equipped with a swivel head; a turning spindle with diameter capacity of 65 mm; a bar feeder; and a workpiece turning unit. This compact machining center has a swiveling range of -10 degrees to +100 degrees and is said to take 0.5 second to swivel for 0 to 90 degrees. With the use of synchronous technology, the axes accelerate with as much as 1.5G to a maximum speed of 75 m/min. The motor spindle accelerates to 24,000 rpm in 1.2 seconds. The chain magazine is available with 24, 48 or 64 tool places. Tool change takes only 0.9 second, reducing the chip-to-chip time to 2.4 seconds, the company says.
