Benz has introduced NanoFix, a modular quick-change system for Swiss-type live and static tool applications. According to the company, the system can reduce setup and tool-change time by as much as 40 percent for manufacturers producing small parts in the aerospace, automotive and medical industries. The configuration is engineered for confined-space machining.
The system is designed for Swiss-type tooling with a minimum spindle distance of 22 mm. The company says it enables users to change tools in as little as 15 sec. With a Torx locking mechanism, users can release and remove the adapter with one hand. It is well-suited for hard-to-reach ER collets, and is said to provide greater rigidity than other quick-change devices. It has a concentricity of 5 microns on 30 mm, repeatable accuracy, short projection and play-free centering of tapering. The adapters can also be preset outside the machine for production flexibility.
