Mazak’s Integrex e-420H II multitasking machine offers high-powered turning and full-function machining capabilities suitable for a range of industries, including construction machinery, marine and energy. The machine is capable of turning, milling, boring and drilling operations, while offering five-axis simultaneous machining.
A 30-hp, 12,000-rpm integral-motor milling spindle that rotates 240 degrees in the B-axis enables the simultaneous five-axis and high-feedrate milling operations. The headstock offers an 8", 12" or 15" chuck, and 3.6” diameter bore mounted on a 40-hp, 4,000-rpm integrated spindle motor. The C axis indexes in 0.0001-degree increments and is equipped with a brake mechanism and direct magnetic detector to promote positioning accuracy. The machine’s 60" bed accommodates longer workpieces, and an optional 120" bed is also available. Axis travels incorporate Mazak’s MX hybrid roller guide system designed to damp vibration, extend tool life and handle larger loads.
The machine also is equipped with Mazak’s Matrix 2 CNC designed for optimized five-axis machining. A five-axis spline interpolation function included in the software controls provides smooth tool paths from block-by-block programs and shorter cycle times, and improves surface finishes. The machine’s tool magazine accommodates 40 tools, and 80- abd 120-tool options are available. A steady rest also is available as an option. The multitasking machine is compatible with bar feeders, gantry loaders and articulating robots, the company says.
