The Colchester-Harrison TT6 turn-mill center from Clausing features overlapped (twin turning) tool sequences to provide optimized productivity. The center offers reduced setup time, and waiting time between pieces is eliminated, the company says. The eight-axis machine has twin 12-station turrets; two identical 20-hp, integrated spindle units; GE Fanuc servomotors and drives; and a Fanuc 31i-A CNC, which features a high-speed, low-power CNC processor, simplified programming and operator prompts. A 10.4″ LCD screen is standard.
The machine’s 45-degree slant bed features a Y-axis wedge-angle configuration and 35-mm linear guide on all axes. The Sauter Red Line disc-type turret range has rugged housing, high speed spindle indexing and an extended neck for backturning tools. The tool drive has spindle orientation, with the tools individually driven, and radial tool mounting.
The Fanuc 31i-A CNC is mounted on the right side of the machine and pivots through 90 degrees of motion for operator convenience. Standard features include M-code and G-code help screens and automatic switch off when a batch is completed.
The TTB turn diameter is 7″, Z1 axis travel is 22.2″ and Y1 axis travel is 3.15″. Standard three-jaw chuck size is 7″ in diameter and drawtube capacity is 2.2″. Maximum spindle speed is 5,000 rpm.
