The SafeHold APL series of permanent lifting magnets from Eriez requires no electricity and enables hands-free operation. The magnets are capable of lifting, moving or positioning flat steel and iron workpieces without slings, hooks or cables. Movement is said to be quick and easy, without marring the surface of the workpiece. Suitable for hard-to-reach areas such as burn tables, the magnets require fewer operators and helpers and are said to promote overall safety. They do not require manual activation, so workers don’t need to bend and reach for handles or stand close to loads, the company says. The magnets be used singly or in multiples on a spreader beam. Three models are available, offering lifting capacities ranging from 900 to 5,800 lbs.
