Röhm Products of America’s Duro-A RC power chuck reduces setup times with a jaw-change system said to enable the jaws to be adjusted, reversed or swapped in 50 sec. According to the company, traditional power chucks often cannot keep up with spindle rotational speeds and acceleration/deceleration rates because of the heavy weight and loss of dynamic clamping force. Therefore, the billet steel body of the Duro-A RC has a lightweight design with an overall height that is reduced by 14 percent. The chuck provides centrifugal force compensation enabling fast speeds and feeds as well as power consumption savings of as much as 17 percent. The chuck’s interchangeable back plate further ensures adaptability to fit to a range of lathe spindles.
