GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions has released Proficy Process Systems in a 250-I/O size, single-computer offering targeted at smaller applications and OEMs. It is a fully integrated process control system that is said to improve quality, reliability, throughput, performance and efficiency.
The process system allows users the freedom to architect and scale process control systems to best meet their needs. End users can start small and then grow and expand their systems. OEMs can also take advantage of the offering.
The foundation of the process system is a contemporary hardware and software infrastructure that offers the benefits of both traditional DCS and PLC/HMI systems, without many of the historic limitations of those approaches, the company says. For flexibility, the multi-disciplined PACSystems controllers can handle process-, discrete- and motion-control applications. Also, the company’s Proficy software technologies provide visibility, analytics and connectivity throughout the user’s enterprise. The HMI/SCADA (Cimplicity and iFIX) and Historian technologies, coupled with batch and a complete production management suite, allow customers to close the gap between automation and information, the company says.
Control features include a comprehensive set of function blocks for advanced regulatory control. In addition, user-defined function blocks provide freedom and flexibility to define control algorithms as necessary, and system integrators can lock these blocks to protect their intellectual property.Â
