Röhm’s Duro-A power chuck is designed to help operators get the most out of their CNC turning centers. The company says the power chuck maintains a constant clamping force for more than 500,000 cycles, ensuring reliable component clamping and allowing users to machine heavier workpieces. The chuck weight offloads the machine spindle and helps machines achieve maximum speed and braking faster than traditional chucks, according to the company. In addition, its compact design, with improved interference contour as well as reduced overall height, ensures better accessibility of driven tools. The wedge-hook system with ring pistons is said to achieve very low centrifugal force losses at the highest rotational speeds.
Other features include an expanded through-hole and a higher maximum speed for a broader spectrum of workpieces and a more diverse assortment of applications. It is said to have concentricity of 0.01 mm (for bored-top jaws) for low imbalance and fast rotational speeds.
