ABB Robotics offers the IRB 6700 family of robots, available with payloads ranging from 150 to 300 kg and reaches from 2.6 to 3.2 m. Designed for spot welding, material handling and machine tending, the robots are said to provide greater speed and accuracy with reduced power consumption and lower total cost of ownership. They contain a new generation of motors and compact gearboxes designed for accurate, efficient and reliable operation. According to the company, maintenance has been optimized, doubling the time between service intervals. LeanID, a new integrated dressing, is said to enable easier programming and a smaller footprint. The robots also are designed to withstand harsh working environments and are available with ABB’s Foundry Plus 2 protection system.
