Rotary Table Absorbs High Shock Loads

Calmotion’s 5C rotary table is pre-wired for Fanuc and Fadal CNCs. The rotary table is designed to absorb higher shock loads—especially axial loads—and eliminate leaky seals, thereby increasing its life, the company says.
The table features heat-treated steel and throated helix gears which increase the contact area. This, in turn, absorbs high shock loads, reduces wear, extends life and improves accuracy. Performance and accuracy are further enhanced with the use of a dual adjustment feature that improves gear mesh.
The rotary table is available with a range of holding options including a manual collet closer and manual chucks. For higher holding force and less operator fatigue, an optional air collet closer is also available, the company says. It provides a range of part holding forces and as much as 3,000 lbs of drawbar force at 100 psi. The air collet system ejects with the same amount of force as it grabs to ensure that the collet will fully release. A simple switch is said to reduce operator fatigue by converting collet operation from manual to pneumatic. Even with air pressure variation or a complete loss of air pressure, the air collet closer design retains its holding force.
The rotary table ships with Fadal or Fanuc-style bayonet connectors for machines pre-wired to accept an AC rotary table.
