Heidenhain has expanded its LIDA 400 scales series to include a version that can withstand varying temperatures. The LIDA 403 scale is available with glass or glass ceramic as its graduation carrier. Its expansion coefficient makes it useful in varying temperatures while maintaining high accuracy, the company says.
This scale series is based on a steel scale tape with a grating period of 20 µm. This grating period holds true for this model as well. The standard accuracy grade is ±5 µm with higher accuracies available upon request, covering measuring lengths from 240 to 3,040 mm.
The scanning head of the scale is the same as the others in the series. There is a reference mark at midpoint (distance-coded available upon request).
The Precimet adhesive film on the rear of the scale is said to ensure simple mounting.
