Mori Seiki’s NX series is comprised of horizontal and vertical machining centers, in addition to a turning center designed on a common platform. Each forms a module for use in an automotive production line.

To accommodate the compact workpieces for which they are intended, the machines measure 26.8" in width and 90.4" deep. They also feature a workpiece capacity of 5.5" in diameter by 3.9" in height. The addition of an available gantry loader, robot or pallet carriage systems allows automated movement of workpieces among the machines.

The company’s Driven at the Center of Gravity (DCG) technology has been incorporated into the series, along with a box-in-box construction to allow rapid acceleration/deceleration rates with minimal vibration. Other features include rapid traverse rate of 1,969 ipm along all three axes for each machine and a 12,000-rpm (20,000- rpm optional) spindle cartridge design, which enables spindle exchange with access limited to the machine’s front.

Initial offerings in the NX Series include the NX2000V (VMC), NX2000H HMC, and NX2000T turning center, all of which accept HSK-A40 tooling with maximum length of 7.1".
