Misumi USA introduces Rapid Design, a free software suite developed to help simplify and accelerate the factory automation design process for engineers. The Rapid Design package consists of four platforms, each with unique features to help expand an engineer’s design capabilities and reduce time required to construct CAD assemblies, accessing Misumi’s 80 sextillion part configurations.
Accessible now on the company’s website, Rapid Design’s free inCAD Library houses hundreds of industrial and factory automation applications using Misumi components, each including a downloadable bill of materials and CAD model.
The second module, inCAD Components, is a next-generation 3D CAD generator that runs alongside SolidWorks. It allows users to manipulate Misumi’s configurable components, research pricing and access technical information without leaving SolidWorks. Approximately 99 percent of Misumi components are accessible through inCAD Components. This Rapid Design platform is said to eliminate the tedious steps of configuring part numbers, downloading CAD models, saving files and importing them into SolidWorks.
Two additional elements of the Rapid Design software suite will be released soon: inCAD Frames will give users access to infinite design possibilities within the Aluminum Extrusion framework, and inCAD Exchange will serve as an information resource, allowing users to review parts by multiple manufacturers within the CAD environment.
