Brother has developed the new HS70A submerged wire EDM. With the new AE (anti-electrolysis) Generator linear glass scales and larger workpiece capacity of 770 lbs, EDM is said to offer value for stamping tool and die, medical parts (titanium alloys), production parts and form tools, including PCD.
With a compact body, the EDM comes equipped with an inverter pump and does not require an air supply. Fast automatic wire threading, says the company, includes a threading time of 15 seconds, annealing the wire and reliable threading even if the workpiece is submerged. A new spark generator is said to help increase the machine productivity, with max cutting speeds of 28in2/hr in steel.
The EDM contains a new user/machine interface with 10 MB memory, 3D graphics and 12.1" large color display. Expanded applications include an optional index table for multi-face machining.
