Rollomatic’s GrindSmart XW tool-grinding centers feature a synchronous direct-drive grinding spindle and high-efficiency coolant delivery system for grinding tools ranging to 20.0 mm in diameter. The design of the grinding spindle is said to provide high and consistent torque, especially in the lower rpm range. The new VirtualGrind Pro software platform enables easy programing and setup for standard tools as well as specialty applications, such as high-performance end mills. A six-station wheel changer exchanges the grinding wheel arbor and coolant manifold with increased speed and precision. With a new workhead and updated shank-guidance system, tools can be produced with low runout of only a few microns, the company says.
Two models are available: the GrindSmart 628XW six-axis grinding center grinds complex high-performance cutting tools ranging from 0.1 to 20.0 mm in diameter, while the GrindSmart 528XW five-axis grinding center grinds tools ranging from 1.0 to 20 mm in diameter.
