Okuma’s 2SP-150H horizontal twin-spindle lathe offers high metal removal rates in a small space and is ideal for small-part CNC machining. The user-friendly, front-facing spindles allow easy and fast access to the workpiece and tooling. With the addition of a high-speed three-axis Okuma gantry loader, parts can be loaded and unloaded automatically. The dual spindles and gantry loader significantly reduce cycle time and maximize productivity, the company says.
The machine’s maximum turning diameter is 150 mm (5.91"). It features X- and Z-axis rapid traverse rates of 24 m/min. (945 ipm).
The integral bed and base, cross-slide, headstock, tailstock and turret form a balanced, rigid structure. Powerful, robust ballscrews generate slideway movement to both axes. The 2SP-150H is equipped with a 6" or 8" chuck and optional 6,000-rpm spindle speed for maximum flexibility. Okuma’s Intelligent Technology Thermo-Friendly Concept is a standard feature and achieves high thermal stability and accuracy.
According to Okuma, the 2SP-150H has no machine obstructions, so chips fall directly onto a perforated chip pan, maintaining uninterrupted production and allowing coolant to flow into the coolant tank. An optional lift-up chip conveyor is available for large machining jobs.
